Sex and Chocolate-- some foods lead to better sex

Foods for better sex?

Many aspects of our health revolve around what we put in our bodies. Different foods affect the human body in a variety of ways and that includes sex. Product pushers are eager to sell herbs, foods, and aphrodisiacs that all promise to improve sexual function and make you a better lover. In reality, these claims are more folklore than science. If you really want to improve your sex life, look no further than your own kitchen.

Dark Chocolate

It should come as no surprise that chocolate and sex are connected. Besides being delicious and sensual, chocolate contains a chemical compound called phenylethylamine, which triggers the release of the same endorphins as sex. In addition, according to the Journal of Sexual Medicine, people who consume a cube of dark chocolate a day experience more desire and better sex than those who do not. (Our suggestion – Make chocolate-covered strawberries. Add champagne to the mix and you have the perfect appetizer to sex.)

Chili Peppers

Sauces, sides, dressings, and salsa made from chili peppers can literally spice up your sex life. Capsaicin, the chemical compound that gives spicy foods their spice, mimics effects of arousal such as flushed cheeks, rapid heart-beat, and a tingling sensation.

Avocados are a natural wonder and are great for your sexual health. They are rich in unsaturated fats and low in saturated fats, improving blood circulation and heart health. Men with heart or cardiovascular complications are much more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction.

While a bowl of oatmeal is not what most people would consider “sexy”, whole grains like oats increase testosterone, which improves sex drive. Oatmeal also contains arginine, an essential chemical for arousal.

Fish high in omega-3 fatty acids – such as salmon or mackerel – supports the production of sex-hormones. Some fish, like tuna, are a good source of selenium, which can increase sperm count and improve testicular health.

Okay, not really. Unfortunately.

Avoid fatty and greasy foods. They will only slow you down and leave you feeling sluggish and tired.
